Hear Ye, Hear Ye

Nitty-Gritty
- Retake Picture Day
- Marcia will be back to help with the picture retake day. Yay! Patti has a list of students that will need retakes as well as parents that have notified her that they would like the picture retaken. Please watch for a list from her. If you did not get your picture taken last month, please make sure to get it done on Tuesday. These pictures are used for the staff ID badges, as well as put into the yearbook. The pictures will start around 8:15 am.
- AimsWeb
- The reading assessments in grades 4K-3rd grade must be completed by Oct 24 as stated in Act 20. If you missed the meeting this last week, or need any help with getting logged in or really anything, please see the training videos on the Implementation Guide HERE. The last page also has a chart from DPI that shows clearly what subtests are required as well. As soon as Math and grades 4-5 are uploaded, I will let you know!
- Field Trip Lunches
- Just a reminder that when you are planning field trips, please let Natalie know so that she can account for the missing grade. In addition, if you need sack lunches made for students, please give her at least a week's notice. This will make this smoother for everyone!
- SEL lessons
- Please let me know if you can not get into Everyday Speech for the SEL lessons for grades 2-5. Grades 5K-1, you should be able to get into Emotional ABC's, but if you haven't yet, please let me know. It is important that each teacher go through the lesson plans for your grade so that students get the universal curriculum consistently. If you have questions, please let Teresa or myself know.
Suicide Prevention Information
As educators, we are often the first to notice when a student is struggling. We want to ensure you never feel alone when supporting a student through a mental health crisis or suicidal ideation. Please take a moment to review the DPI's dedicated resource page for Suicide Prevention. It contains readily available, confidential resources, including clear steps on how to connect a student with professional help, and the national 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Your pupil services team is here to help too.

TechKnow Tip
As you prepare for Parent/Teacher conferences, keeping a student’s information confidential is required. Teachers should not show a live PowerSchool Gradebook with parents. It is recommended that parents log into their Parent Access Account to view their students’ progress and grades. If they do not have access to PowerSchool, another option is using PowerTeacher Gradebook Reports. PowerSchool Reports can assist you with conversations with your students’ Parents/Guardians. Helpful reports may include “Individual Student Report” and “Missing Assignment Report” (reference the attached image). These reports are available for all your classes, but ensure you are only sharing specific student data with specific parents/guardians. Specific directions can be found here.

Fair isn’t Equal Resource
Here is a link to a book called “That’s Not Fair” . It does a nice job explaining why students get “extra fun things”. That’s Not Fair By: Courtney Butorac
The book is about 6 minutes long. Use as you see fit.
Here are the links to important guiding documents for our building. Instead of doing a mass printing and putting them in the office, please just print what you need.

Whistles
As we work towards having a Playground Evacuation Plan, it is important that we have distinct whistles to help signal line up or go straight in.
End of recess should be one continuous whistle followed by verbal directions to go line up as needed.
Emergency evacuation should be a succession of short bursts and verbal directions to go straight to your classroom.
Thanks in advance for helping with this new Playground Evacuation Protocol.
ML Information
*Do you know where to find a student’s ELP code? They are in PowerSchool. Here is a little tutorial. (Please note that these scores represent the previous year's assessment results.)
*What is an ELP? ELP is the acronym for English Language Proficiency code. The codes represent the score of English Language Proficiency the student received on the annual state ACCESS testing which happens Dec.1st- Jan. 30th. Click the link to find out more about what each number represents.
*NEW!!! Dodgeland Teacher Resources: Please take time out to look over the many links to help you learn about Multilingual Learners and find helpful teacher resources. There is a lot on this resource page, but I will be introducing many of these resources bit by bit to everyone. Be sure to check back frequently due to updates/changes.
I am also working on getting everyone a “Quick View” or “Snapshot” of information about each ML student. On this Quick View you will find what each ELP level means as well as “best practice” accommodations and modifications that everyone can use with the student at their level.
